Thank you for acknowledgeing South american indigenous people
You hit the nail on the head. We love pop culture because it gives our lazy minds a nice little package to fit people into. Stereotypes which all use as a reference point which gets us into trouble with our fellow human beings. "Content of their character"
0:01 Because the difference between a fiend and friend is just a single arrr?
Wost it happens till 1994 this is so CRAZY
I had a very good friend go to jail for a couple years and at first they told him that he wouldn't be required to shave his hair because he was full Native American and he filed paperwork multiple times to ensure that they would stick to the deal. But of course they didn't, about 9 or 10 months of being there they shaved his hair down to like a 1. He fought so hard to keep it and they even BS'd him about it. That was such a bogus thing to do, didn't expect anything different from a Florida prison though.
Rip Cole Brings Plenty :(
This was not taught in my 4th grade California history class. That class also left out the genocide that Junipero Serra and Sutter as in Sutter's fort was responsible for. I've only learned about these things because of videos like yours and public radio. They did cover the Donner party in 4th grade California history but left out the part about the native guides being killed and eaten first.
Stop calling fucking natives Indians. Theirs 1.1 billion Indians making up 1/6th of the world population and they come from Asia with one of the oldest continuing civilizations on earth. Stop calling peoples from the Americas something their not it’s ignorant as a mf
And no you would have NEVER knew without ME telling you
Christ pronounced SHA'RISE
New York Times Who Were the Ancestors of Native Americans? A Lost People in Siberia, Scientists Say Genetic analysis of ancient teeth and bones suggests Native Americans largely descend from a vanished group called the Ancient Paleo-Siberians. Siberians are not Indigenous to America. Siberia is on the Euro/Russian/ China border. They have always intermingled. To them, East would be America. When they came there were already people here. 1828 Noah Webster dictionary AMER'ICAN, adjective Pertaining to America. AMER'ICAN, noun A native of America; originally applied to the aboriginals, or copper-colored races, found here by the Europeans; but now applied to the descendants of Europeans born in America. The name American must always exalt the pride of patriotism. - Washington. So now anyone can be called a Native. And yes, they have their own culture. It's their's. The term Native was not used widely until the 1970s. It was used as a Name for a political party. Called the Native American. The Know Nothing Party. There were a people already here and they had their culture too.
But what if you're not talking about an individual but all of them collectively, across tribal lines?
ABORIG'INAL, adjective [Latin ab and origo, origin. See Origin.] First; original; primitive; aboriginal people are the first inhabitants of a country. Aboriginal tribes of America. ABORIG'INAL, adjective an original, or primitive inhabitant. The first settlers in a country are called aboriginals; as the Celts in Europe, and "Indians" in America. India was not called India until the 1950s. Hindustan...was the originsl. We have a lot stolen identity of aboriginal people. 1828 Noah Webster dictionary AMER'ICAN, adjective Pertaining to America. Sometimes hair is a piece of the culture. Just like clothes or songs.
Tell us more. We want to know. We want to remember.
This is why it's wrong to inflict your views and perspective forced on others. Leftists, big gov't lovers, are you listening? God is freedom. Satan is the opposite.
These people who forced our people to cut our hair and give up our culture were christians, if you two were put in the same room you wouldn't see a difference, if we were put in the same room one of us wouldn't make it out alive. Our only freedom as indigenous people can come from returning to our ways taken from us.
👋👋🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷👋👋
I want to bring up Leonard Peltier. He has been in prison for 50 ish years because he killed 2 feds on Pine Ridge. I have always been taught that reservations were sovereign, so if this is the case, his whole imprisonment has been a major miscarriage of justice and a human rights abuse of the highest degree. I have been writing and emailing my senators, congress people, vice presidents and presidents since at least 1977. Is it possible to get our young people interested in this? Their voice would bring new life and agency to what I think is one of the most criminal acts our government has ever perpetrated on a regular person. Thank you.
Since she was wrong right off get, I would be skeptical of her conclusions. Hebrew and Arabic came from Aramaic, so his name wasn't Hebrew.
Yep yes putting it down like it is from truly true land owners and rent is over due 👌 🙌 and together with our own tongue and their own tongue to get out of their closet and Indian is still within and outward two tongue this is honor respect Thanks ❤
It's called assimilation and applies to presentation in toto, not exclusively hair.
In Quran his name is Isa
All you f up
Let’s be real here. The intention was to assimilate them into the white culture, which was the dominant culture. All the Indian tribes had been doing this to the tribes that they fought and had captives from, going back to the beginning of Indigenous people. Don’t tell me that the Comanche’s kidnapped Sioux children during a raid, and then allowed them to live as Sioux children in their Comanche tribe. That’s preposterous!
the reason i'm on this page is as a blk man i used the term oriental to my brother and he ate me alive. i spoke unknowingly but he told me i was outdated and racist. racist!? how could a blk man be racist? that was entire different conversation
One of the traumas of white children being kidnapped by Indians: being face tattooed!
THIS VIDEO LEAVES OUT IMPORTANT CONTEXT - and because of this leads to damaging discrimination against vital groups of people. It's true, as this video presents, that Europeans used racism to justify slavery and indentured servitude. Everyone acknowledges this and it is widely taught to students in America from even the age of 8 years. What this narration omits is that EVERY TRIBE, NATION, AND RACE in the ancient world practiced slavery and used this type of racial prejudice as justification for their goals. Whether it be African kings enslaving other tribes after conquest, or the Mongols in Asia, the Barbary pirates in North Africa, the Aztecs in Mexico, Hebrews in Egypt, Incas in South America, and countless more examples. Not just America, Slavery was everywhere. And even though your piece is about the USA that context is critical. This narration glosses over the fact that Irishmen and Italians were also brought as slaves and indentured servants. The worst lynching by a mob in US history was done to a community of Italians in Alabama. Xenophobia is a human condition manifested in every culture, race, family, and individual because it is human nature to think that the way we, as individuals, look, act, feel, and think is correct. That is actually a good thing because it provides for us a framework from which we can learn and determine which things are truly "good" and which are not. Ancient texts, most noteably the Bible, are traditional ways to find these values. The HUGE problem with this piling of guilt upon Europeans and, by defacto, on the white race, is that it creates the type of divisive attitudes we are seeing all too often in America today. Whites feel unnecessary guilt for things never done in their lifetime to people who are long gone. Other races feel anger and resentment and continue to hold these feelings long after they are productive. So instead of condemning, we should be focusing on the fact that the Europe, primarily the British and closely followed by the USA, led a worldwide war on slavery seeking to abolish the practice everywhere, which cost unimagineable blood and resources, and has largely succeeded. In fact, the only places where slavery does not exist in any measureable quantity, are in these Western nations. This important context is vital to the future of the USA and western civilization, the champions of freedom, and should be part of every lesson about slavery.
I thought you were white
For Clarification The saviour's name is Yahusha, which means Yah Saves (Yah is our Salvation). Like he said in John 5:43 "I have come in My Father's name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive." That been said our creator name is Yahuah, and messiah came as Yahusha. The father's name cannot be found in Jesus or Yeshua, they don't want you to know this because there is greater power in our creator and messiah true Hebrew name. The system is not your friend, they don't want you to know the truth because the truth will set you free. Thanks.
Slaay kiiing ✨️
“Jesus” last name would have been what he and his adoptive father, “Joseph’s” last name was. Joseph & Jesus were “Carpenters”. So it would have been, “נגר”. In Greek, “ξυλουργός”. In German, “Zimmerer”…. Etc
A lot of info is not taught in places of worship..like decided what books belong in Biblical Canon etc?
Samoans in chat ✊🏽 Lakota nation vs united states is another resource to watch This Was the Place is another documentary series too
"they don't like native American" #nativeamerica
I grew up in South Dakota went over to my friends house and she showed me a chest with locks of hair that had only been cut when someone passed.
When people learn to count and realize that wasn’t so long ago….
There's an old mission school in our city. I remember going on a field trip, and they didn't really explain what it was before we went. It was when they were talking about how they forced them to cut their hair and speak English that I looked around and thought "oh... so this is a bad place. Got it."
Did your ancestors also dismember children and threw them onto the fire to watch them roll as they died in pain but now want the world to forget and pretend like your people never did that kind of thing? Are you?
I heard someone say that it used to be the case in Ireland that Green was considered a masculine colour & yellow was considered a feminine colour.
In my heritage, we call one another the People. Anishinaabe.
The name Yeshua fullname YEHOSHUA meaning Yehovah is Salvation in Hebrew
They cut everyone's hair. It was to disconnect you from your culture and make you feel small
The presentation is too millennial 😭
DAMN YOU GILLETTE!! 👹👹🤬🤬 If God intended for us to be hairless...He would have created us that way!!❤️🙏 Maybe we aren't so different from Sasquatch after all!! Maybe our body hair has power that GILLETTE and friends don't want us to know that we have...why did the British make the Native Americans cut their hair?? Humph!! 🤷♀️🤷♀️
How do we ask?
Canada operates a lot of the same way.
Heartbreaking!
I remember delivering a load of cardboard to a recycling facility in Arizona. The guy who unloaded me had a name tag that said Garcia. I asked if he was mexican (as I am), and he got pissed. He looked mexican. Anyway, I said I was sorry. Found out that he was Navajo and I was indeed in a Navajo reservation.
In the 1800s many countries had slavery. Some Native tribes enslaved each other. Portugal, Britain, Spain, France, the Netherlands, and Africa.
What a wonderful explanation of his name. I loved the pace with which you spoke & the enunciation. So easy to follow along.
